Wenge is a rare and valuable species of tropical wood derived from the wenge tree. The wood has good resistance to fungi and insects. The most popular dark and very dense wood is the core of the tree, which is an important material as a result of its properties, beautiful color and texture. The pores of the wood contain a large number of minerals and oily substances that complicate processing, including varnishing, so for wenge it is recommended to cover with wax.
