Okume

The trees reach very large sizes, the diameter of the camel at the base is 1.0-2.5 m. Okuma wood is one of the most valuable hardwoods, used mainly for the production of plywood and joinery. In its natural form it is used as a substitute for red, mahogany wood. Due to its close resemblance to the wood of the African red, or mahogany tree, it is also called gaboon mahogany. But, in fact, it does not belong to the true species of mahogany. The color of the wood ranges from light pink to brown. The structure of the tree is rectilinear, almost monotonous, but in radial sections has a weakly striped pattern. Density in the dry state is 430 kg / m3. It dries well, but with a slight decrease in the quality of timber.
