Satin walnut

The broad sapwood is whitish to light pink or brown and is sometimes called “sapgum” or “sweetgum”. The wood of the core is from gray to reddish-brown and is usually called “redgum”. A core with dark black stripes is called a “figured redgum.” Other names: liquidambar, amber tree; sweet gum or red gum. Accepted in some countries, the name “Satin walnut” can be misleading, as it has nothing to do with the nut (walnut). In the United States, amber wood is often used as industrial wood for furniture, for the production of plywood, fruit or other containers, in the paper industry. Wood red gamma is relatively unknown in Europe.
